RTM
The unbelievable true story of a Harvard student who breached NASA, US Army missile systems, and Ivy League networks with the world’s first computer worm — while his father ran cybersecurity for the NSA.
RTM is a proof-of-concept short I made in 2019 on a ten-day turnaround. It dramatizes the true story of Robert Tappan Morris and the first computer worm, told with the energy of an early-internet John Hughes film.
The short won me a feature directing job. Josh Hutcherson was attached to play Morris and Bob Odenkirk to play his father. The feature was financed, but it never went to camera.
The script is available on request. I still want to make this film, and I’m looking for the right partners to bring it back.
Directed, written, and edited by Ben Davis. Cinematography by Adam Coleman. Color by Tashi Trieu. Music by Mondo Boys.
