Directing comedy spots is one of my absolute favorite things to do. There’s something magical about being on set with a group of talented, funny people and watching the humor unfold. Whether it’s a perfectly timed line or an off-the-cuff improv moment, I love the energy and spontaneity that comes with making people laugh.

Some of my earliest memories of movies and media were all about comedy. From staying up late with my great grandma to watch Johnny Carson, to laughing at Dumb and Dumber and Conan, comedy has always been at the heart of what I love. I try to bring that same joy and connection to every project I work on.

Here are a few of my favorite comedy spots. If you want to work together and share some laughs, let’s chat—but fair warning, I can’t promise I won’t sneak in a dad joke or two. It’s a package deal.

TACHUS: REASONS TO BELIEVE

DIRECTOR’S NOTES:

The Tachus Reasons to Believe campaign was one of those projects where everything just clicked. With fantastic creative from our agency, Iluminere, I had some of my favorite scripts to work with—smart, funny, and full of potential. It was one of those rare jobs where I got my first choice for every cast member, and I couldn’t have been happier with their performances; they were all so funny and brought so much charm to the screen. We used subtle, cinematic camerawork to heighten the humor, keeping it visually engaging without overshadowing the comedic timing. It was the perfect balance of great writing, spot-on performances, and just the right touch of style.

MCDONALDS: YAWNVERSATIONS

DIRECTOR’S NOTES:

Working with my frequent collaborator, sketch performer/filmmaker Gregory Bordelon, and TikTok star Theresa Rowley was a blast. Knowing Gregory well, I cast him in the role, and we relied on our familiarity to let the energy flow naturally. We gave both performers space to riff and improvise, which brought a lot of spontaneous energy to the spot. One of the standout moments was Gregory’s yawns—we did 52 takes, to grab a wild assortment for the edit. Yes, 52. We had the time, but Gregory was genuinely tired as we finished.

The chemistry between Gregory and Theresa brought a unique dynamic to the project, and their ability to go off-script added a natural, comedic layer that really came through in the final cut. It was all about having fun and letting the talent shine.

CHUCK E CHEESE

DIRECTOR’S NOTES:

Directing the Chuck E. Cheese spots was a nostalgic trip, given my childhood love for the brand. The goal was to keep the energy of the fun center alive, using lots of camera movement and fast pacing to match the excitement. Getting the kids to bring that same energy into their performances was key to making the comedy hit across cuts. And, of course, working alongside Charles Entertainment Cheese himself was an experience all its own—because nothing says “fun center” like directing with a giant rat!

Metro by T-Mobile: MetroWire

DIRECTOR’S NOTES:

Metro Wire, a social media series starring Gregory Bordelon and real-life news reporter Courtenay Dehoff, was a total blast. We channeled Weekend Update vibes as much as possible. The series ran for a year on Metro’s social channels, giving us plenty of opportunities to lean into the humor and improv. I love the news set our production designer Chad built for us and getting paid to goof off with Gregory and Courtenay? Let’s just say, it was too much fun to feel like work!
